This course emphasizes social and cultural aspects, as well as medical knowledge and interdisciplinary development of a teamwork model, in the context of a re-source poor medical setting in Ilula , Tanzania, through an Affiliation Agreement with the Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility of the University of Minnesota. The Ilula global health team experience fosters team-based education and cross-professional collaboration in global health using a combination of traditional didactic discussions, guided reflection, supervised clinical participation, and case studies. It is an immersion experience where students will gain an appreciation for local cultures, sustainable development work, and be challenged to define themselves as global citizens.
Prerequisites:
Concurrent enrollment in nursing or dental pro-gram, or consent of coordinator.
Completion of year one in your professional school
