Shoulder to Shoulder is planning a project to bring Swahili health videos to patients at Ilula Hospital and dispensaries using a Kindle eReader. The project will be set up and monitored by the Medical group in 2018. The videos are produced by three organizations and we will install them on low cost Kindle eReaders to play on 8″ screens with small groups of women and health workers. Special emphasis will be given to teaching proper breast feeding for new mothers. An 8 month baby died of malnutrition when the group was in Ilula last year because proper breast feeding was never engaged. A project summary paper is attached.
The project plans to use 20 Kindle eReaders with memory cards and the cost for the project is estimated to be about $3000.
