Annual Fundraiser: Raise the Roof on Maternal Child Health

Brightly colored patterns and an illustration of an African woman are accompanied with the text: Get your tickets. Raise the roof on maternal child health. Friday, December 13, 2024, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Come help Shoulder to Shoulder raise money for a maternal child health center in Ilula, Tanzania.

Join Shoulder to Shoulder on Friday, December 13 to raise money for a Maternal Child Health Center! The fundraiser is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eagan Community Center.

The evening will include a full dinner catered by Baba’s, plus dessert and a cash bar. There will be live musical entertainment and a live auction.

Tickets are $65 for October and November. The price will go to $75 in December.

The Maternal Child Health Center will be a part of the Ilula Hospital, a rural hospital in central Tanzania. This hospital serves the region and supplies healthcare to people who cannot make it to a larger city. In Tanzania, the infant mortality rate is 33 deaths per 1,000 live births. The leading causes of newborn deaths are prematurity, low birth weight, and infectious disease related to poor access to medical care. To help address this, Ilula Hospital is building a new Maternal Child Health Center.

The Center will have two parts:

  • The Reproductive Child Health building will be a large clinic with exam rooms, conference rooms, and a circumcision room.
  • The second building will triple the size of the current labor and delivery ward to better accommodate the growing population. It will also include better access to surgery, an OR, education about post-natal care, and five private rooms.

The total project cost is $700,000. We have already raised $600,000. Join us on December 13 to raise the final $100,000 and make the new Maternal Child Health Center a reality.

If you cannot join us in December, consider making a donation today.
